Descriptor : tangential elongation and anticlinal divisions of subcortical parenchyma cells

Descriptor type : categorical

During the late growth of the stem, some of palms have an anticlinal division of the subcortical ground parenchyma cells to allow the increase in diameter of the stem. Elongation is defined by: width/length > 3 and division by an alignment of more than 5 cells. Thus, the consequence of this is that the fvb are arranged in diagonal and / or radial pattern as seen in TS.
